At one pint or another, I opened two or more blogger accounts and never realized my mistake.
Shizmobrewingco.blogspot.com
and
Shizmobrewery.blogspot.com
Both belong to me, but I always try to keep every site to match the shizmobrewery.com site name.
So, in that vein. This site will stay up for every, but all the links will be changed to reflect the one that I always planned on using!
Change your bookmarks to point to Shizmobrewery.blogspot.com.
Thanks

The Social Experiment and funding.
It doesnt matter where you go or what you read, everyone says that the social web is the next big thing.
To that effect, Im really trying to get the Kickstarter funding project up and off the ground. Im getting the word out on the Facebook site as well as twitter, and anywhere else where I can think of.
Today I set up Google Adwords for the kickstarter funding site, and already, outside of these efforts, the social aspect is panning out more than paid advertising. Two people may not seem like much, but when they put their own money on the table, it tells me that the future that I see for craft beer is real and present. Especially when the kickstarter project has been up and running mere hours! Im excited and optimistic.
Funding
With this passed weekends get together, I had a chance to talk to some people directly, to hear others opinions and thoughts second hand, but the one common element was that everyone sees and seems to believe in the concept and my own personal enthusiasm for the brewery. I had some great discussion about funding, especially the idea of VC funding as applied to a brewery. The wine industry is replete with successful wineries that got of the ground by way of angel investing, which is a great sign for us! I've made the contacts, and am actively working towards meeting the people who (face to face) who are in positions to fund our entire requirement.
The future is looking very bright, and you all are along for the ride. Stay tuned, and lets keep the social movement going!
Cheers

State Fair
Almost ready to head out the door to drive up to Sacramento for the State Fair. Pick up my third place ribbon for the Xmas Beer, and just maybe talk and BS with some of the other winners! One of the belgian category winners is from San Jose as well. We'll see about that.
Taking a few 750ML of some beer to share with the other winners. Mainly the Diabel red, IPA, and of course a small bottle of the Xmas Beer.
If you're at the State Fair, drop by and say hello at the homebrew competition.
Cheers

Never enough time....
With blogging, the idea is to keep the world aware of what you do as a person, or my/our case, a business. With this blog, I've been a bit behind. The idea to post updates and news on this blog, has had a hard take-off, primarily due to the fact that I so gregariously post on facebook.
Making beer - I post on facebook.
Thinking of making beer - I post on facebook.
Anything else - I post on facebook.
As a matter of fact, this post will automatically end up on facebook.
But along those lines, there are reasons to keep the promise to blog alive. Here I can and will (promise this time) post updates and news.
So along those lines, where do we stand with Shizmo Brewing Co.?
For one, I think that we've found the perfect location. Close to home and the "day job," as well as having all the things that I've been looking for.
3000 square feet of warehouse space, with an already (pretty much) completed area that would be used as the tasting room, as well as offices, storage space, and room to grow.
Now the big thing; money, money, money. There are people out there looking to invest, which is great, but when it comes to people parting with their money for a startup anything, even though the craft brewing industry has shown itself to be almost recession proof, its still on their terms.
So, when the people who have it, want to talk to us about sharing it, we'll post that. Unless they want to remain anonymous. In the meantime, I've got Simple Present working hard to get our Kickstarter video put together so that we can try our hand at social investing. Check out the site, its a great concept!
As we move forward and continue to create momentum, its looking better and better, since I keep on reconnecting with all the people in all the right places, like restaurants, and hotels, and the like, who would, and are the perfect target for our creations.
Another thing to mention, and it shows that people believe in what we're doing, is that there has been a good amount of interest in jobs, or at least people looking for them with us. Sales, brewing, etc. The better the funding we can arrange, the quicker it will be till we can start hiring, so if you showed interest, please keep on me, I need the help definitely, I just need to see how long before I can make it work for us both!
Cheers, and have a great weekend!

Site Building
Never realized just how much time is spent on putting content into a website. How do you say everything that is necessary without sounding like a who knows what. Regardless, the site is coming together, its feeling like its related to a business that we're starting. But I definitely have ideas for what this blog should contain.
Correct me if no one cares, but I thought I'd throw at least some of these things out there.
Fundraising - Going to have a whole set of posts about this one. When you're asking for people's money, they should demand a lot of input and material on what you think of doing with their money.
Beer philosophy, this is a big one, its what drives me to make the beers that I do and hopefylly what makes the beer interesting.
Business... How do you do it? I have ideas, some homegrown, and others generally accepted, that together combine to make a unique approach. I feel confident that I've seen it done well, as well as horribly wrong. I'd like to follow the former example.
Well, its 5am, I couldnt sleep, so there are some more random thoughts. Now its time to get ready for the "day" job.
Cheers,
Lucas
